A cozy accommodation and a peaceful place for relaxation and recreation surrounded by beautiful countryside nature. Nykil is located just outside Linköping in a quiet area with fantastic surroundings. The cottage was built in 1856 and has a wonderful cozy atmosphere, with a traditional tiled stove placed in the center of the house. It is charmingly decorated in keeping with the character of the old croft, and the lovely garden next to the forest, together with patios furnished with outdoor furniture, is perfect for enjoying warm summer days.

The cottage offers 55 m² of living space with a kitchen, living room, bedroom with a double bed, and a sofa bed (140 cm wide) that can be converted into a bed for two people. The ceiling height is 180 cm. You enter through a bright hallway with a staircase leading to the upper floor, where the bedroom and bathroom with an incinerating toilet and washbasin are located. Directly to the right on the ground floor is the living room with the beautiful tiled stove, a seating area, and a smaller dining area. A TV is available, but there are no TV channels. If you wish to use the TV for streaming, please bring your own streaming device, such as a Chromecast, Apple TV, or similar, and use mobile internet if needed.

Outside the house there is a built-in shower with both hot and cold water, available all year round. Running cold water is available in the cottage. Hot water is available in the kitchen, at the shower, and in the washroom with the incinerating toilet. In the separate WC building on the property, only cold water is available.

The nearest swimming area is Hultabadet, located about 5 km away by Lake Järnlunden. The lake is one of the largest in the municipality and has clear, clean water. The bathing area offers a large grassy lawn, a small sandy beach, a jetty, a volleyball net, a changing room, and a toilet. Järnlunden is a beautiful lake with many islands, sandy beaches, and smooth rocks for swimming.

For those who enjoy hiking, the famous Östgötaleden trail offers fantastic opportunities for varied nature and cultural experiences through the beautiful landscapes of Östergötland. The trail passes through deep forests and rugged wilderness, and you can easily access it from the vicinity of the cottage. There are also several flea markets and many other places worth visiting nearby.

Mutebo-Aspnäs Miniature Railway and Café is open on weekends during June–August. There is something for everyone when planning excursions, whether in the nearby area or in the city of Linköping, about 30 km away. There you can visit the Swedish Air Force Museum, Old Linköping in the Valla district, enjoy good shopping, and dine at excellent restaurants. Those interested in culture may also enjoy visiting the cathedral and the castle at Borggården.

About 35 km northwest of Linköping lies Berg’s Locks, the largest lock staircase on the Göta Canal. Visitors come here to watch boats pass through the locks, eat delicious ice cream, rent bicycles, or take a refreshing swim.

Trollegater Nature Reserve is a popular destination suitable for the whole family. Trollegater contains one of Sweden’s largest ancient bedrock cave systems, where adventure and excitement await those who wish to explore.

Astrid Lindgren’s World in Vimmerby is 68 km away, and Kolmården Zoo in Norrköping is about 110 km away.

For groceries and other necessities, there is Skeda Udde Country Store, Nykil Country Store, or ICA Rimforsa, all about 15 minutes away by car. Bed linen can be rented from the owner, and final cleaning can also be purchased if desired.

The Kolmården Wildlife Park is situated north of Norrköping. Here you can meet animals from all over the world. Here the day passes by very easily with a lot of fantastic experiences for the entire family. The safari park offers a great adventure as you can sit in the cable car that goes over the safari park's exciting animals.

Linköping is the fifth biggest city in Sweden. It is lively and has a high pulse. It has a lot of bars, theatres and an impressing selection of restaurants for every taste and at any price level. Do you love to go shopping? If the answer is yes, the city is an Eldorado with a lot of shops and galleries. But it also has something to offer for those interested in cultural experiences – you might visit the old Linköping, the cathedral or the Air Force Museum. There are several beautiful castles, e.g. Ekenäs Castle which has the annually held rover tournament. Go exploring along the Göta Canal, which flows into the Roxen Lake, and along the Kinda canal down to the Kinda lakes which have beautiful surroundings with a lot of locks.

Reijmyre is situated in Norrköping municipality. The Reijmyre glassworks are some of the oldest in Sweden and were founded in 1810. It is beautifully located between Norrköping and Finspång in the middle of the deep Kolmård forest. The nearest archipelago is Arkösund, a small community by the sea, which is full of life in the summer, and here you will find many shops, pubs and hotels offering entertainment. Furthermore you will find the open air theatre, stalls with fine craft, yachting opportunities, ice-cream booths and magnificent bathing opportunities at Badholmarna.

Söderköping has beautiful surroundings, and it is especially a nice place in the summer. Enjoy the nice old town or go by bike along the canal. Climb the Ramunderberg and experience the town from above. Afterwards you can relax with one of the famous ice creams at Smultronstället, or you can try a Spanish lunch table at the restaurant La Uva which is located in the centre of the town square.

In the heart of Valdemarsvik you will find the popular marina. The Gryt and Tjust archipelagos with rocky as well as sandy beaches are very popular bathing beaches in the summer. Experience Astrid Lindgren’s adventurous world in Vimmerby in the northern part of Småland together with your children or grand children. It was here that the stories about Pippi Langstrømpe and Emil from Lønneberg were created.

Sweden has been admitted to UNESCO's list of world heritage for its unique coastline. Middle and north of Sweden have countless rivers, lakes and streams criss-crossing the country. When the most Swedish of Swedish parties approach, the whole country is exited. Midsummer is traditionally a feast celebrated with family and friends, but if you are a tourist you are welcome to join the festivities. It is celebrated all over the country - by the coast, in the skerries, by idyllic lakes, in the mountains or one of the islands. All is good, as long as there is plenty of pristine and diverse nature around.

Before the holiday

Rental agreement and route description

Shortly after booking holiday accommodation through DanCenter you will receive your booking confirmation by post. This confirmation constitutes your rental agreement and contains all necessary information. On the first page you will find information the addresses of your holiday home and the key pick up place, as well as a route description. At the bottom of the page there is a detachable post card for ordering miscellaneous extras, which can be useful to have while on holiday. On the following pages you will find the invoice for the stay you have booked complete with transfer order/inpayment form, stating the due date.

On arrival at the key pick up point, you will be asked to present your rental agreement whereupon you will be handed your key. More often than not electricity, water and other charges are included in the rental amount. Where this is not the case you will also receive an electricity-envelope on which the meter readings of all consumption dependant expenses are to be noted upon arrival as well as departure.

Notice of arrival

If you wish to rent a boat or engine however, you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

Time of arrival Arrival can take place from 4 p.m. on the day the rental period commences. If you expect to arrive at a different time please arrange this with the contact person in advance. Contact information can be found on your rental agreement.

Extras

On the detachable post card at the bottom of the rental agreement, miscellaneous extras can be ordered - however only those stated in the description of your holiday home.

All holiday homes are equipped with all kitchen utensils necessary for the maximum amount of persons, which the house can room. Bed linen, dish cloths, table cloths etc. can in some places be rented.

On the post card you can also order the final cleaning, if this is mentioned in the description of your holiday home.

All extras must be ordered in conjunction with sending the notice of arrival no less than 14 days before commencement of the rental period. If you wish to rent a boat or engine however you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

What is a cleaning audit charge?

We charge customers a small cleaning audit fee to prepare the room for the next guest, even as some outgoing guests prefer to clean the room themselves. Are such guests still required to pay a cleaning charge? Yes. Please let us explain.

While we appreciate guests cleaning the room themselves, we nonetheless conduct an audit to ensure that the room is in excellent shape. The cleaning audit fee we levy is for the time and effort involved in checking that our cleaning standards have been met, so that we can provide our customers with the best experience.

Pets

If you have rented a holiday home in which pets are permitted please remember that it is a lengthy and quite difficult process to obtain all necessary permits for the import of pets to Sweden. Therefore please contact the Swedish Tourist Board or embassy well in advance.

Ferry connections and bridge crossings

If you have booked a holiday home in Sweden you can either go via Copenhagen across the Øresund Bridge or take a ferry. The bridge toll is 225,- Danish Kroner/crossing. If you choose to go by ferry please remember to order your tickets well in advance.
