About Troms
Troms ist eine Provinz im Norden von Norwegen und bietet eine großartige und faszinierend schöne Landschaft. Für Naturliebhaber zählen Lyngen und das beeindruckende Gebirge der Lyngsalpene mit ihren Eisgletschern auf den Berggipfeln zu den größten Attraktionen, die sowohl im Sommer als auch im Winter Urlauber anzieht. Die Gebirgskette bildet das nördlichste Alpingebiet Europas, dessen Gipfel sich bis auf 1.500 m.ü.M. erstrecken. Die Wintermonate werden für immer mehr Urlauber zur attraktiven Reisezeit, weil man dann die Dunkelheit und im Zeitraum 21. November bis 21. Januar auch das farbenprächtige Polarlicht am nächtlichen Himmel erleben kann. Das sogenannte Nordlicht tanzt dann in manch einer wolkenfreien Winternacht in all seiner Farbenpracht am Sternenhimmel und bietet so ein beeindruckendes Erlebnis. In den klaren Nächten des Frühlings und Sommers, im Zeitraum zwischen dem 21. Mai und 21. Juli, erscheint hingegen die Mitternachtssonne am Firmament und verzaubert mit ihrem milden Licht die Kulisse.

Troms hat eine lange Küstenlinie mit zahlreichen Fjorden. Das vorgelagerte Meeresgebiet zählt zu den attraktivsten Revieren für Sportangler in ganz Europa. Hierher reisen begeisterte Petrijünger aus vielen Himmelsrichtungen an, um die großartigen Fanggründe selbst einmal zu erleben. Das weite Meer und der dicke Fang sind verlockend, allein in den letzten Jahre purzelte hier so mancher Fangrekord.
Vor allem während des Frühlings und Sommers, wenn die Nächte so hell sind wie die Tage, sind die Angeltouren ein herrliches Erlebnis. Der warme Golfstrom entlang der Küste sorgt für reiche Nahrungszufuhr und trägt zu eisfreien Gewässern während der Winterzeit bei. Im Januar/Februar erreichen dann große Schwärme von Kabeljau/Dorsch aus der Barentssee die Küste, um dort ihre Laichplätze aufzusuchen. Sie erwartet im Meer vor der Insel Senja eine große Fangflotte. Zudem bietet die Provinz eine Auswahl an größeren Lachsflüssen, in denen man auch Meerforelle und Meersaibling fängt.

Die Provinz Troms hat 2 Städte: Harstad im Süden und Tromsø im Norden. Die Stadt Tromsø zählt mehr als 70.000 Einwohner und gilt somit als größte Stadt Nordnorwegens. Auf Grund ihrer langen Tradition als Fischereihafen und ihrer Nähe zum Meer, wird sie auch die Stadt am Eismeer (Ishavsbyen) genannt. Vor allem am Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts diente sie zahlreichen Polar-Expeditionen als Ausgangspunkt ihrer Reise und erhielt so zusätzlich die Bezeichnung Pforte zum Eismeer (Porten til Ishavet). In der Stadt gibt es mehrere interessante Museen, die sich dieser Zeit mit ihren Ausstellungen widmen. Zudem hat das moderne Tromsø auch ein reges Stadtleben zu bieten, das ihm den Zusatznamen Paris des Nordens eingebracht hat. Bei Tromsdalen findet man einen Sessellift hinauf ins Gebirge. Von oben genießt man eine wunderbare Panoramaaussicht über Stadt und Schärenküste.

Troms hat viele Sehenswürdigkeiten, darunter den beeindruckenden Wasserfall Målselvfossen am Fluss Målselv, der zum nationalen Wasserfall Norwegens gewählt wurde. In der gleichen Gegend findet man den bei Familien besonders beliebten Polar-Zoo mit seinen nordischen Tierarten, darunter Wolf, Bär, Luchs sowie andere ansonsten scheue Wildtiere, die man dort aus der Nähe betrachten kann. Weiter nördlich liegt das naturschöne Tal Reisadalen mit seiner reichen Flora und Fauna, das zu erlebnisreichen Wanderungen einlädt.
