Väddö, the vibrant archipelago island!

At the northern edge of Roslagen lies Väddö, an island full of nature, culture, and genuine charm – a place to explore with all your senses. Hike along the Roslagsleden trail, cycle along country roads winding between meadows and the sea, or take a dip at Sandviken, Björn’s Lighthouse, or Grisslehamn Beach. On the island’s western side flows the Väddö Canal, which for over 180 years has connected Norrtäljeviken with the Åland Sea. Along the canal, you’ll find small piers, cafés, and picnic spots. In Grisslehamn, you can visit Albert Engström’s studio and museum, walk along the art trail with the sea as your companion, or watch ferries depart for Åland from the harbor. Across the island, local artisans, small galleries, and farm shops keep traditions alive. Taste freshly harvested potatoes from Väddö farms, fresh fish straight from the smokehouse, local honey, or ice cream made from milk from Väddö Mejeri.
