About Kelstrup Strand
The big islands of Eastern Denmark have each and everyone their own characteristic landscape. South Sealand has green and undulating hills, and Stevns and Møn have huge chalk cliffs overlooking the Baltic Sea. Lolland and Falster offer open, green and flat landscapes, and on the east coast of Falster there are great beaches.

The region is connected by bridges: Storstrøms-bro and Farøbro connect Sealand with Falster while Møn is connected with Sealand by the bridge called Dronning Alexandrine Bro, and finally there is Guldborgsundbro between Falster and Lolland.

There many fine and children-friendly beaches with quiet and low water in the region including Karrebæksminde by the Smålandshavet Archipelago, but also Fakse Ladeplads and Møn offer lovely beaches. On the east coast of Falster you will find Marielyst with wide beaches and dunes, and on the southern coast of Lolland there are fine beaches at the coast facing Femern Bælt where the sea might also be rough on a windy day.

The big amount of sounds, belts and coves means fine possibilities to find shelter along the coasts – no matter in which direction the wind blows.

The region offers fantastic nature experiences. One of the most interesting ones is the unique Møns Klint with dramatic, white chalk cliffs – here the forest grows directly on the edge of the cliffs, and here you can find beautiful orchids. In the GeoCenter of Møns Klint you can get wiser on the formation of the cliffs and fossils you might have found when exploring the area. Behind the cliffs you have Mandemarke Bakker with foot paths and gorgeous views of the Baltic Sea.

Also Stevns has calcareous and chalk cliffs that the sea has been eroding for millions of years. Also the old Højerup Kirke has been a “victim” of this phenomenon as a big part of the chancel of the church collapsed into the sea in 1928. There are fine possibilities to find fossils on Stevns, and you can go “fossil hunting” in Faxe Kalkbrud (limestone quarry) in order to discover the world of this fantastic fossilised coral reef.

South Sealand – at Stevns Klint west of Vordingborg the long Knudshoved Odde (peninsula) extends into the Smålandshavet archipelago. You have beautiful views towards both north and south and a rare view in Denmark: a big bison herd.

On Falster you will find the southernmost point of Denmark called Gedser Odde. This landscape is totally flat with never-ending views of the Baltic Sea, and when the wind whistles and the waves roar, it is a beautiful, but rough place.

South of Lolland in the waters of Rødsand Vildtreservat (Rødsand Game Reserve) you will find a breeding and living area for large colonies of seals. You can study the seals maintaining a certain distance, but you are not allowed to go ashore during the breeding season.
